This morning my hand was very swollen, bruised and sore . I realised I would not be able to ride safely especially as some A roads were on the itinerary, so rather than both be grounded I hired a taxi to take me and all the luggage to the next destination. Neil decided as he was travelling light he would push himself and head for Lockerbie instead of the stop at Abington some miles nearer. As it turns out Abington has a steep climb to it being the highest village in Scotland.

Neil Was Here
I set off with driver John in a very comfy Citroen whizzing along the M74 at a pace I am now unused to. John just couldn't understand why Neil didn't want to come in the taxi too, what's the point of cycling, He says, I must say it crossed my mind a time or two! I arrived early at The Kings Arms which looked OK from the outside on the website, oh dear, I think Alex Pollizzi in here would be a great programme! Tired unimaginative decor, terrible food and slipshod service combine to make the price daylight robbery at £87.00 per night B&B , We have been paying around £60.00 for much better. Such a dissapointment, should try harder. Lockerbie itself seems a dreary little place, Neil says no wonder they built the motorway to bypas it!

Me Myself and I
I was expecting Neil to arrive here at about 6pm so imagine my surprise when at about 4.30 he turned up at the door! I wa so proud of him, 60 miles, the furthest he has ever ridden! Fair play to him that was a great days riding for the Lycra lad! I asked Neil what he wanted to say about his journey, he says it was hard for 40 miles and easy for 20, so there you have it. Maybe when he gets to the balcony the Beer Engine balcony he will remember the interesting bits!

Poor you Nat.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely FANTASTIC performance from Neil, amaze balls - 60 miles??? Six-Zero Miles? thats 100 kilometres incredible - congratulations. Not such a good effort from you Mum :( what did Queen Mum say? you clearly were not following her advice earlier in the day if you needed to leap walls
ReplyDeleteStay safe both of you, and keep pedalling

Amaze balls indeed Mr P! I knew I should have bought shares in Sudacrem. Lewi thinks Mrs P needs some man-up pills........... He couldn't understand why you would stay in that B&B. Taxi on the other hand was good skills. Little lady was so excited by Nanpa's achievement she had her first wee on the toilet. Lot's of love, LBF2.
ReplyDeleteAt this rate you will b home next week. Well done team. I think you both deserve 6 pints o heavy and a few drams.
ReplyDeleteWell done Neil!
ReplyDeleteNat, how's your poor wrist? It don't look like something Sudocrem can fix! The blog updates have been great, M&J ask me every day to show them what the PP's have been up to. So envious, I'd love to do it one day. Patient's just been in, he said he did it in 10 days - I doubt if it would have been half the experience you've had!
All the best TM&J xxx
