Beautiful Lancaster Cycle Way
Coffee break in a village called Milnthorpe. all the locals were talking about the traffic jams as everyone was heading for the Westmorland County Show. We stood on the bridge over the dual carriageway watching miles of traffic at a standstill. I must confess to a slight feeling of smugness!
My Turn for a Puncture Today
Our cycle path took us through some woods which were lovely except for the fact that Neil had promised gentle rolling countryside as soon as we got to the woods we had a climb from sea level to 300 ft! From there we rode around Morecombe Bay famous for the cockle and shrimp collectors. On to Carnforth where we picked up the Lancaster Canal which took us into Lancaster. This was charming with houses on one side their gardens right on the canal side some with moorings, there were ducks and swans, I saw a stoat too.
Charming Lancaster Canal
Swan and 8 Cygnets
In Lancaster we passed through an old industrial area along the river Lune, here redundant commercial buildings were being demolished or renovated, probably for housing, would be a great spot To live, overlooking the river. This cycle path took us to Glasson Locks where we stopped for some refreshment.

DeleteCatching up after a week away. Great progress made and you still appear to be having such fun. Re neither regions I recall something to do with bananas!
ReplyDeletebananas?? even worse than Lena's suggestion of steak! Still having fun yes. Welcome back to you.
DeleteI love the pathways next to the canals they look beautiful. You should nick one of those Natland signs .
ReplyDeleteThe towpaths are wonderful, wish they were all suitable for bikes but many are grassed over which is OK for walking but not our bikes. As far as a Natland sign is concerned, I did contemplate it for a nanosecond but Neil wouldn't carry it!
